The Meet-Cute
In late 2018, Sam was on the hunt for a new home. He connected with a mortgage lender whose son happened to be in Jei’s class, and soon enough, he was deep into the home-buying process. When he found the one (the house, not Katie—yet), he stopped by the office to finalize details. That’s when he met Katie, who was assisting with his loan at the front desk.
Shortly after Sam left, Katie walked into a co-worker’s office and said, “I can’t know my clients are that cute.”
A few weeks later, Sam had a reason—okay, an excuse—to come back to the office with some final loan questions. But let’s be honest, he was mostly hoping to ask Katie out. After some awkward small talk, he was just about to walk out the door when she said, “I’ll let you know when everything is closed!”
Sam turned around. “So I won’t see you again?”
Katie laughed. “Typically, no.”
And just like that, Sam took his shot. He walked back in, gathered his courage, and asked Katie on a date. She wrote her number down on a LoanDepot post-it note, which we still have to this day.
From that first date to today, our story has been full of love, laughter, and one incredible human—Jei—who has been at the heart of it all. As we start this next chapter together, we do so as a family, ready for all the adventures ahead.
The Engagement
Some proposals are a total surprise. Ours? Almost 6 years later, Not so much.
We had been talking about marriage for the past year—dreaming about our future, shopping for a ring together, buying a home, and planning our next chapter side by side. So when it came time for the “big moment,” there wasn’t really a question of if—just when.
Sam, wanting to make it special, private, and heartfelt (as requested), put a little too much pressure on himself. Eventually, he just came right out with it: “Would you just like to know that I’ll propose to you tomorrow?”
When tomorrow came. Katie called him and asked, “What are we doing tonight?” His answer? “You’re coming home, so I can propose to you.”
Sure enough, the moment Katie walked in, he asked, “Are you ready?” Then, in the comfort of our home, he shared his heart, got down on one knee, and made it official.
It wasn’t a grand, over-the-top production. It was us. And that made it absolutely perfect.
The Wedding
This day is all about celebrating love, laughter, and the incredible journey that brought us here. Surrounded by our favorite people, we can’t wait to exchange vows, dance under the stars, and create unforgettable memories with you.
Our wedding is a mix of both of us—one a little quiet and reserved, the other a little lively and social. Set on a beautiful ranch, we’re making the day as fun and relaxed as possible, with gourmet PNW fare, sweet treats, and plenty of yard games to get competitive on. Whether you’re here to soak in the scenery and good conversation or you’re ready to hit the dance floor with a drink in hand, there’s a place for you in our celebration.
For those who never want the night to end, you’re welcome to camp on-site and wake up to fresh ranch air and good company. However you choose to enjoy the day, we just hope it feels as magical to you as it does to us.
